Мій день

This lesson turns the earlier A1 pieces into one connected day. You already know actions, clock time, days of the week, and simple weather. Now you will link them with sequence words so your Ukrainian sounds like a small story, not separate flashcards.

By the end, you can:

• name parts of the day: вранці, вдень, після обіду, ввечері, вночі;
• connect routine actions with спочатку, потім, після цього, and нарешті;
• use time phrases such as о сьомій, о першій, пів на восьму;
• recognize tomorrow-plan phrases such as буду працювати and буду вивчати українську without studying future-tense grammar yet;
• choose everyday Ukrainian routine phrases such as беру душ, п’ю ліки, Котра година?, and Ходімо!.

Діалоги

The first scene is a short diary conversation after a normal day. The past-time forms appear as ready phrases only. You do not need the grammar of the past tense yet.

Друг: Як пройшов твій день?
Автор: Добре! Вранці я працював.
Друг: А потім?
Автор: Потім обідав о першій.
Друг: А після обіду?
Автор: Після обіду гуляв. Ввечері дивився фільм і читав книгу.

Copy the story shape: time phrase + action. Вранці я працював is useful for recognition, but your main A1 speaking line can stay in the present: Вранці я працюю. Потім обідаю. Ввечері читаю.

The second scene plans tomorrow. The future appears as буду + infinitive, also as a ready phrase.

Друг: Що ти будеш робити завтра?
Автор: Вранці буду працювати.
Друг: А після обіду?
Автор: Буду вивчати українську.
Друг: А ввечері?
Автор: Ходімо в парк! Буде тепло.

Use Ходімо! as one whole invitation phrase. Do not build Давайте підемо! at A1. For time questions, keep Котра година? and О котрій годині?. Do not ask Який час? for clock time.

Use the same rule for a few daily-routine phrases: learn the natural Ukrainian phrase and do not translate word by word from another language.

Start with the time frame. The simplest day words are:

Add сьогодні and завтра for one specific day, and use weekday phrases from Module 23: у понеділок, у середу, в суботу.

Now add regular routine actions. The grammar label is not your task today, but these are regular-day actions in the first person:

Вранці я прокидаюся і снідаю.
Потім я вмиваюся і одягаюся.
О дев'ятій я працюю.
О першій я обідаю.
Після обіду я читаю або відпочиваю.
Ввечері я вечеряю і дивлюся фільм.
Вночі я лягаю спати.

Many morning verbs use -ся: прокидатися, вмиватися, одягатися. Learn the я forms as phrases: я прокидаюся, я вмиваюся, я одягаюся. You are talking about regular routine, so keep the action simple: я снідаю, я працюю, я обідаю, я читаю. The dictionary verbs behind these lines are вмиватися, працювати, обідати, читати.

Add the clock only when it helps. Котра година? asks “What time is it?” О котрій годині? asks “At what time?” For full hours, Ukrainian uses the hour as an order word: перша, друга, сьома. For action time, use о/об: о сьомій годині, о дев’ятій, об одинадцятій. For half past, keep the phrase пів на сьому or пів на восьму.

Sequence words make the day readable. Use them at the front of a short line.

Here is a complete A1 day:

Сьогодні понеділок.
Вранці холодно, але сонячно.
О сьомій я прокидаюся.
Спочатку роблю зарядку і беру душ.
Потім снідаю.
О дев'ятій працюю.
О першій обідаю.
Після обіду відпочиваю і вчу українську.
Ввечері вечеряю і дивлюся фільм.
Нарешті о десятій лягаю спати.

For tomorrow, keep only the ready future phrase from the dialogue: буду працювати, буду вивчати українську. The grammar of future tense comes later. Today your main job is still the story line: time, sequence, action.
